Hampshire Puja and Cultural Association Kali Puja Celebration 

Dear All,

Following the success of last year's Kali Pujo, we are very pleased to announce that we will be celebrating Kali Pujo again this year with a brand new Kali idol on Saturday 18th of October in the Hilitingbury Scout Hall.

The fixed donation amount for this year will be £30 per family and £15 per single adult.

The committee has decided that families who have contributed £130 or more during Durga Puja 2014 are exempt from making this donation. However, it is upto those individual families if they would like to contribute any further. Indeed we are looking for a few sponsors who could help us with any part of the event. Please contact us if you are interested in sponsoring.

A home cooked non-vegetarian dinner, with some vegetarian options, will be served after the puja at around 9PM.

As food will be prepared in house, it is very important for us to get confirmed attendance and donation in advance to help us plan and prepare for the day effectively. So that we are able to cater for all confirmed guests, we will be unable to accept any booking for food on the day.

Please could we request you to inform us as soon as possible about your attendance, and your friends who are not on this list but would like to join. Due to the limited capacity of the hall, bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis.

The deadline for booking food for the puja is Saturday 11th of October.

This year there will be a singing session of Shyama Sangeet by the participants of the puja. Please let us know if you are interested in joining the singing group.

Subho Mahalaya to all of you. Soikot EC is ready to host another fabulous Durga puja in few days. Like every year we are requesting for your participation and generous help to manage huge expenses for venue, artists, food, groceries, audio/visual equipments rental and many more. It's you who make the community puja successful and financially viable year after year and we are hopeful there will be no difference this year. With your encouragement EC has decided to extend puja fun this year starting from Friday the 3rd Oct.

This year we have set the minimum donation amount at $200 per family and $100 per individual to cover the entire event.

Soikot is proud to announce that this year we will worship our new "protima". To manage the overall pujo expenses along with the additional expense for new "protima" and shipping from kumartuli we are requesting our valuable members to go for Platinum, Gold or Silver membership. An exclusive interactive on-stage interview with Mrs Shubhalakshmi Khan followed by Q&A from the audience. Shubhalakshmi Khan, the wife of legendary Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, was herself an acclaimed BharataNatyam Dancer. She learned Bharata Natyam in Kalakshetra, the famous dance institute in Chennai and received her training under the close supervision of guru Rukmini Arundale. In an interview with India Today, Khan Saab, as Ustad Amjad Ali Khan is called respectfully and affectionately, said - "She was a great dancer! Seeing her on stage, I immediately felt that God had sent her for me!'

Through this interview segment, we would like to connect with her artistic self and the Khan Family of music.

Durga Puja celebration is only 2 months away.  The members and Board Of Trustees at Garden State Cultural Association are looking forward to seeing you on October 4^th and 5^th at Plainfield High School, Plainfield, NJ. 

As previous years, we would celebrate the puja in a very traditional way:  puja with utmost devotion, offering pushpanjali multiple times, dhunuchi dance, prasad, dinner.  In addition to the puja, we have a fantastic line up of cultural programs.  Soon, we will send you all the details.  In the meantime, please mark your calendars.
